I think that the biggest trouble maker in relationships is our mind. Remember when you were in love - everything was perfect, you experienced the highest heights. But slowly with time this perfection fades and you end up on the ground. Why? Does it really have to be like this?

Let's take a closer look. At the beginning you literally touched the soul of that person and helped it shine brighter then ever. And of course you experienced perfection. But later on you got to know also other parts of that persons existence and whenever you saw something that you didn't like and couldn't accepted, this became a wail that covered the soul of that person. With time layers of wails completely blocked the souls light and you wondered how could you be so stupid. But were you really?

If we can love for the sack of love and constantly see the real (the soul) in others, we can live heaven on earth.

Don Miguel Ruiz said in his book The Mastery of Love:

Happiness can only come from inside of you and is the result of your love. When you are aware that no one else can make you happy and that happiness is the result of your love this becomes the greatest mastery - The Mastery of Love.

When we look through imperfections of others directly to the soul, we help to bring it to the fore to shine bright, brighter, brightest. And remember everything that you are concentrating on expends. Knowing this only the fool will wast time thinking and complaining of others imperfections.
